APRIL ABSYNTH guest stars with a recurring role AS JACQUE IN lionsgate TELEVISION SERIES “BLINDSPOTTING”, STARRING JASMINE CEPHAS JONES (HAMILTON), HELEN HUNT, JAYLEN BARRON, CANDACE NICHOLAS-LIPPMAN, AND ARTIST BENJAMIN EARL TURNER. THE SERIES IS A CONTINUATION OF THE 2017 FILM FROM CREATORS RAFAEL CASAL (BAD EDUCATION) AND DAVEED DIGGS (HAMILTON, SNOWPIERCER). APRIL WILL RETURN FOR SEASON 2.

The original film “Blindspotting” is said to be “a cinematic love letter to a changing Oakland” from Bay Area rappers, now writers and showrunners of the Lionsgate + starz television series, Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal. They bring truth from their own experiences growing up in the bay to bring this unique and theatrical vision to life.

Jacque’s character being Filipina AMerican was a part of that influence, depicting the diversity of friends - and bestest of friends - in the Bay Area.

April cast as Jacque is a milestone not only in her career, but also finds playing Jacque is a homage to her AAPI community in a time when #representationmatters, and shining a light to the diversity that defined the world she grew up in as a Bay Area Native.

just as Diggs and Casal created their love letter to Oakland, Jacque is April’s love letter to her Filipina-American heritage, her roots in the Bay Area, and her love for the inclusivity and diversity that is unique to her home. It is her hope that through storytelling as JAcque, she can share her truth and experience that inclusivity is possible should the world chose it to be their truth as well.
